For this project and with the medium of projection mapping I want to tell the visual story of the beauty within nature and how humans can often oversaturate and cause destruction towards natural areas. A lot of my hobbies and interests revolve around the environment. I love to hike, ski, and camp, but there is always a balance of trying to leave as little impact on the environment as possible when engaging in those activities. To visualize this, I plan to create a mountain sculpture out of cardboard and tape. I want this sculpture to be reminiscent of a mountain but with a more abstract/geometric structure. Onto the geometric planes of this mountain sculpture, I plan to project nature visuals (e.g., mountain scenes, wildflowers, rivers, trees, etc.). I want each of the videos projected to match the geometric sides of the mountain. To symbolize the visual representation of human destruction to the environment, I will use effects in MadMapper and VDMX to glitch the nature visuals. I may also incorporate flame visuals to layer over the nature videos to show the risk of wildfires and environmental destruction due to human influence on the environment. In the effects, I want to emphasize colors of orange, red, and black to symbolize decay and destruction, juxtaposing colors like green that will symbolize growth and life within the nature videos. I plan to also add a background behind the mountain scene that will switch from a bright blue sky to a gloomy sky when a key is pressed on my computer. I'm going to use a little chair to place my projector on and a small table to put the mountain sculpture onto.
