MAGGIE'S BLOG

Through the soundscape project I want to create a sound environment that mimics the stresses of running late for an activity/event. I feel as though I’m a person that tends to be late to things quite often, and I want to emphasize the sounds and stresses that align with that feeling. I want this project to be very audibly interesting and include a wide variety of sounds and different sound modes. Yet, I also want people to understand the narrative that I’m going for and relate to the high stress, hustle and bustle of running late for an important event. The soundscape is going to begin with an alarm going off, followed by a panicked noise when the person realizes that they slept past their alarm and are running late. Then the listener will hear varying sounds that come from daily life and getting ready and they will slowly get louder and louder. Sounds will also play at the same time as one another to create a sense of chaos, all while a ticking noise will be consistently playing in the background. The chaotic soundscape will then come to a stop after the climactic horn of a car goes off. The main character will then “wake up from the dream they were in” check their clock that will be normally ticking and come back to the peaceful reality of sleep that they were just in. I plan on utilizing Adobe Audition as my sound editing software and collecting songs from the shared song folder and from my daily life to create the narrative soundscape.
