For project #2 I want to intertwine a general theme of childhood nostalgia into the filters and effects that I create. My goal is to complete 2-3 polished and well executed filters that represent key figures/characters from my childhood. Alongside the characters, I want to add in one symbolic element that is closely related to the character filter I create and animate those elements to have them floating or moving around the screen when the filter is being used. I have a few different character ideas, including: Mario, Hello Kitty, the man with the yellow hat, Strawberry Shortcake, a fairy and the very hungry caterpillar. One of the key characters sticking out to me is Mario. For the Mario filter I would create a SuperMario hat and moustache. For the animated aspect I plan to add gold coins or Goomba mushrooms that are floating around the screen. Another character that is sticking out to me is Strawberry Shortcake. For her filter I would create her classic hat and have heart shaped freckles that would adhere to the filter users cheeks. For the animated element I would have strawberries move around the screen. The third character that I think would be a fun filter would be the man with the yellow hat. For this, I would create the classic yellow hat and maybe have a banana adhere to the filter users hand. For the animated element I would have a monkey (Curious George) pop its head over the filter users shoulder and then disappear. Overall I’m really looking forward to this project and the challenge of creating animations and filters with a 3D software.
